Each year, Epilepsy South Eastern Ontario (ESEO) hosts an Annual Fire Truck Pull in July. The event raises awareness about Epilepsy and Seizure Disorders, including the impact the Disorder has on persons with Epilepsy, their caregivers, families and friends. The event is supported by Firefighters, Partner Agencies across the Southeast Area as well as a dedicated team of volunteers, clients/families and staff. The event also raises greatly needed dollars for the organization locally which allow us to provide services including public education, transportation and direct client services.
On behalf of the Volunteer Board of Directors, I am saddened to announce that we are cancelling the Fire Truck Pull in 2020 as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This was not a decision that was made lightly, and it does potentially have ramifications for the organization and its ability to provide the robust, full array of services we have been providing. ESEO has significantly expanded its service provision since January of 2019 in partnership with the Local Health Integration Network, the Kingston Health Science Centre’s Dedicated Epilepsy Clinics as well as our community partners. We are a proud United Way KFL&A member agency, and we rely on the generosity of private donors, monthly Bingos and the efforts of Volunteers. We have an excellent relationship with media outlets including CKWS Global TV, MyFM Gananoque, CFJR Brockville and numerous others.
Thank you too all of our Supporters. Please stay in touch as we will be working diligently as a Volunteer Board to find alternative revenue sources as well as ways to continue our commitment to raising awareness about Epilepsy and Seizure Disorders. It is important, and we appreciate your help.
